What is the Catalogue Manager?

Tip: Work efficiently

Work efficiently by using the catalogue manager - it does all of the formatting for you!

The Catalogue Manager module enables you to create a simple and professional catalogue page of your products without requiring you to spend time formatting tables and images in the content editor.  Visitors are not able to order products online.

You upload product images and add names, descriptions and prices.  The catalogue manager creates a web page at the front of the site that displays each products' image, name, description and price in a neatly formatted table.  When a visitor clicks on one of the small images, the full-sized product image pops up in a new window.

Adding products to the catalogue manager

Tip:

Try to edit your product images so that they are all the same size and aspect (i.e., landscape or portrait).  This will make your catalogue page look consistent and professional.

  1. Go to Modules > Catalogue Manager
  2. Click Add a Product.
  3. Enter the Product Name.
  4. Enter the product Description.
  5. Enter the product Price.
  6. Enter a Sorting number.  This will determine the order that products are displayed at the front of the site. Lower numbers appear first in the list (i.e., a product with an sorting number of 1 will appear before a product with a sorting number of 8).
  7. Click Browse to find the image on your computer that you want to upload.  Select the image and click Open.
  8. Click Save Product.  This will upload the image from your computer to your catalogue. You will now see the product and its image under List Products.
  9. Publish the website.

Adding the catalogue to the website navigation

Tip:

A catalogue page in your website navigation does not contribute to your total page count.

Once you have added product images, prices and descriptions to your catalogue, add the catalogue to the website navigation.  The catalogue page will automatically update with any edits that you make so you will only have to do this the first time that you add products.  A catalogue manager page does not contribute to the total page count of your website.

  1. Go to Modules > Catalogue Manager > Add Catalogue to Site.
  2. Enter the Menu Label. This label will appear in the navigation menu of your website and should be short i.e., "Product Catalogue".  Do not edit the Link Address field as this is automatically generated by the software.
  3. Click  the Save New Link button. The Catalogue link is now added to your site at Pages > Add/Edit Pages > Unattached Pages.
  4. Go to Pages > Move/Delete Pages to insert the Catalogue link into your navigation menu.
  5. Publish the website.
